FIVE people, including three from Burnley, have appeared in court in connection with the knifepoint robbery of a man in his own home.

John Williams (20) of Elizabeth Street, Rebecca Eatough (18) of Granby Streeet and Sally Brennand (19) of no fixed abode, all Burnley, were charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated vehicle taking when they appeared at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

They were joined by David Steer (26) of Whitworth, and Zak Ward (25) of Radcliffe.

The charges relate to an incident on Thursday at 7-45pm when it is alleged the gang broke into a home in Chestnut Rise, off Manchester Road, and tied up a 41-year-old man before stealing his Audi A4. The car was later stopped by a police stinger in Blackpool.
