Drunken decorator was abusive to police

A drunken painter and decorator was repeatedly abusive to the police, despite several warnings, a court heard.

Burnley magistrates were told how Darren Cadle (31) was eventually arrested after the half-past- midnight trouble.

Cadle, who was not represented by a solicitor, told the court: "It was my sister's birthday. I am not a drinker. That's why I got that way.

"Obviously I drank too much. It's one of them."

The defendant, currently not working and on benefits, was also in breach of a conditional discharge.

Cadle, of Chapel Street, Brierfield, admitted being drunk and disorderly on Colne Road, Brierfield, on Wednesday, September 21st. #

He was fined £40, with a £30 victim surcharge and was told to pay £85 costs.

Bench chairman Mr John James told the defendant: "There is no excuse to be abusive to police officers. They always give warnings and if you had walked away from it you wouldn't be standing before us in court today."
