A DOORMAN was left needing surgery after he was attacked as he and a colleague tried to eject three men from a Burnley town centre bar.

The assault took place around 1-30am on Saturday at the Hot Shots late night bar in Hammerton Street.

The 24-year-old victim and a colleague had asked a customer to leave before two other men intervened.

They tried to remove all three men from the bar but one of them was forced down some steps causing him to fall.

He was left with a broken leg and dislocated ligaments.

DC Andrew Maden, from Pennine Division CID, said: “This is a serious assault in which a man remains in hospital and will undergo an operation later this week.

“Officers were present outside the club and attended immediately but CCTV inquires have shown the bar to be very busy at the time of the incident and I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.”

Three men, two aged 27 and one man aged 25, all from Burnley, were arrested in connection with the incident and have been released on police bail.
