A BURNLEY fraudster faces jail after admitting his part in a scam which took thousands of pounds from pensioners.

Vajid Ashraf (33), of Cumberland Avenue, who worked for the Department for Work and Pensions, admitted two charges of conspiracy to defraud at Burnley Crown Court.

He was bailed and placed on a curfew with an electronic tag and ordered to report to Burnley Police Station twice a week. Ashraf will be sentenced next year.

Nine other people face trial in March in connection with the case.
