Police are hunting a cold-hearted conman who snatched a 95-year-old man’s wallet from his home in Burnley.

The man knocked on the door of the elderly victim’s house in Mark Street at around 4-10pm on Friday, March 20th.

He stated that he was owed £5 for some roofing work. The victim got his wallet, which contained hundreds of pounds, and as he went to open it the man snatched it from his hands and ran away from the address.

The man is described as white, around 6ft tall, of a stocky build and is thought to have been about 27 years old.

PC Chris McKee of Burnley Police said: “This is a vulnerable, elderly victim targeted at home and we are determined to find the man responsible so I would urge anyone with information about the theft to get in touch as soon as possible.”
