Police have issued CCTV images of a man they need to trace after two masked men armed with a metal pole targeted a bookmaker in Burnley.

The robbery took place at the William Hill betting shop in Briercliffe Shopping Centre at around 9-20pm on Saturday.

One of the men threatened a female member of staff while a second man remained at the door keeping watch.

After failing to force his way into the store office the man reached under the security glass and grabbed a coin holder containing £137 in cash.

The offender pictured in the CCTV image is described as Asian and 5ft 9in. tall. He wore a balaclava covering his face.

DC David Greenwood, from Burnley CID, said: “This was a terrifying incident for the shop worker and I would urge any members of the local community with any information that could assist with our enquiry to come forward if they have any information regarding the offence.

“Anyone with information should contact Lancashire Police on 101.”
