A town centre refuge, set up to provide medical attention and support to late-night clubbers in Burnley town centre, has been temporarily put out of action after a car ploughed into it on Sunday afternoon.

A spokesman for Burnley Council said the centre would be up and running on Saturday night at a different site within the same building while repair work is carried out.

Nathan Andrews (34), of Westwood Road, Burnley, was arrested and charged with driving a motor vehicle above the legal alcohol limit and failing to stop at the scene of an accident. He was bailed to appear before Burnley magistrates on Thursday, February 13th.
