POLICE have issued CCTV pictures of a man they want to speak to after a bus driver was assaulted by a man carrying a petrol can in Burnley.

The incident happened around noon on Thursday, February 16th, at the bus station in Croft Street.

The 43-year-old driver was taking a break when he was approached by a man in baseball cap who pushed a red petrol can he was carrying into his chest and shouted abuse at him.

The same man was earlier refused entry to the bus by the driver because he was carrying the petrol can.

PC Mark Wilcock, from Burnley police, said: “Fortunately no injuries were sustained but I would appeal to anybody that recognises the man in the CCTV images to come forward.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
