A TEENAGE boy from Burnley has denied causing £1.1m. worth of damage by setting fire to the RDA shopping outlet in June.

The 14-year-old from Burnley, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with arson and appeared at Reedley Youth Court on Monday where he entered a plea of not guilty.

Magistrates heard from prosecution solicitor Miss Alex Mann who said that overnight on June 7th and 8th the RDA outlet, which comprises several buildings in Yorkshire Street, was deliberately set alight resulting in £1.16m. of damage.

Mr Dylan Bradshaw (defending) asked magistrates for 28 days to compile further evidence before setting a trial date.

Magistrates agreed and the case was adjourned until December 19th.
