A BURNLEY Student has admitted sending “grossly offensive” Twitter messages to former Premier League star Stan Collymore.

Joshua Cryer (21) of Coal Clough Lane, changed his plea to guilty at a hearing at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court.

The Newcastle University law student had originally denied charges of contravening section 127 of the Communications Act against the ex-Liverpool and Aston Villa footballer.

Cryer, who lives in the upmarket Jesmond area of Newcastle, will be sentenced on March 21st.

Mr Collymore now works as a broadcaster for Talksport and campaigns against racism.
