A siege at a flat in Burnley has ended peacefully after 26 hours.

Armed police have left the scene, in Escott Gardens, Duke Bar, and the cordon has been removed. No one has been hurt.

Police were first called to the property at 4-30pm yesterday to respond to reports a man armed with a knife was holding a woman in the flat against her will.

Since then armed response officers and police dog handlers along with ambulance, fire crews and negotiators have been at the scene.
