Detectives have released this CCTV image of a man they want to trace after a robbery at the Spar shop in Manchester Road, Burnley, last month (s)

Detectives investigating a robbery at a Burnley convenience store in which terrified staff were threatened with a kitchen knife have released CCTV images of a man they want to trace.

A man wearing a balaclava went into the Spar shop in Manchester Road armed with the weapon around 9-30pm on Saturday, June 21st. He threatened members of staff and demanded the contents of the till. The staff handed over £85 in cash before the man made off from the store.

Police said the CCTV images were captured at a nearby premises immediately before the robbery.

The man is white, approximately 6ft. tall with broad shoulders and a stocky build. At the time he was wearing dark clothing and footwear. It is believed that he lives locally.

Det. Sgt Charles Haynes, of Burnley CID, said: “I would urge anybody who recognises this man or has any information that could assist us with our investigation to contact myself or DC Uppal on 01282 472518.”
