Burnley court clerk uncovers massive Italian divorce scam

An eagle-eyed Burnley court clerk who noticed something odd about a divorce petition involving an Italian husband and wife helped to uncover a massive scam on the English divorce courts.

Burnley County Court clerk Julie Farrah’s doubts led Thames Valley Police to Flat 201, 5 High Street, Maidenhead, which turned out to be nothing more than an anonymous mailbox.

In turn that led to the exposure of an intricate conspiracy in which almost 200 Italian couples had fraudulently sought divorces from the English courts.
