A BURNLEY call centre worker has appeared before Blackburn magistrates charged with fraudulent abuse of his position.

Kamru Zaman (25), of Healdwood Close, faces five charges of using financial details of customers for his own gain and three charges of attempting to use financial details.

Catherine Allan (prosecuting) said Zaman was working for Capita UK at their Darwen call centre at the time of the alleged offences. He is alleged to have used customers’ bank and card details to obtain benefits for himself.

She said one charge involved £4,000, another £2,600, a Sky account and the purchase of a takeaway meal.

Zaman gave no indication of plea and the case was directed to Preston Crown Court. He was remanded on bail pending the preparation of committal papers.
