Police have tonight (Mon) confirmed a 36-year-old man has been arrested and is currently in custody following a five-hour siege at a Burnley house.
In a statement just released, a police spokesman says that, just before 4pm today, police were called to reports of a domestic incident at an address in Lowerhouse Lane.
He adds: “A man inside the address had barricaded himself inside.
“Negotiators were sent to the scene, however, after lengthy negotiations and an initial unsuccessful attempt to gain entry through the front door, around 9-20pm, to effect a safe arrest, officers forced entry through an upstairs window and the man was detained.”
The 36-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of assault.
