A young boy has been taken to hospital after falling into the canal in Burnley.
The incident happened close to a bridge over the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in Lowerhouse Lane shortly before 7pm.
Police, ambulance and fire crews were called to the scene and the youngster was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital where his condition is unknown at this stage.
A police spokesman said an investigation into how the boy fell into the water was in the early stages but said the boy had been submerged in the water.
“We are trying to piece together what happened,” he said.
