A TEENAGE boy has been arrested and charged with arson in connection with a massive fire that ripped through a Burnley store.

The 14-year-old from Burnley has been charged in connection with the fire at RDA Trading, Plumbe Street, on June 8th. He has been bailed to appear before Reedley Youth Court on November 21st.

Around 50 fire-fighters battled to save the building in dangerous conditions when it caught fire just after midnight on Wednesday, June 8th.

RDA Trading, part of the Spring Mill Shopping site in Plumbe Street, opened again weeks later but part of the building was destroyed.

Eight fire engines and more than 50 firefighters worked through the night to tackle the blaze and stop it from spreading to other buildings.

The fire was so fierce police cordoned off neighbouring streets and told residents to stay indoors and close their windows.
