POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was confronted by balaclava clad burglars at her home in Haslingden earlier this week.

The incident took place around 7pm on Wednesday 17th October when a woman answered a knock at her door of her house on Wells Street.

She was confronted by a number of men all wearing black balaclavas and was forced into the front room and threatened by the men who demanded to know where the money was kept.

Fortunately the victim was unharmed but the offenders left with a quantity of jewellery and cash.

Detective Inspector Marie Haworth from Pennine CID said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim and I would appeal to anybody with any information about this offence, or the men responsible to contact Lancashire Police on 101.”

People with information can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or on-line at Crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
