Appeal after spate of burglaries in Burnley

POLICE

Police have issued an appeal for information after a series of burglaries in the Burnley area.

Over the weekend, there have been three reports of sneak in burglaries at addresses in the Rosehill area of Burnley where thieves let themselves into houses through insecure doors.

The first happened in Rosewood Avenue between 5 and 10pm on Saturday. Someone went into the house and stole a purse and some loose change before leaving.

The second incident happened some time between 2-30am and 3pm on Sunday at an address in Glen View Road where two iPhones were stolen. The third offence took place at around 5am on Sunday at an address on Rosehill Avenue where a man entered the house but was disturbed by the owner before he could take anything.

PC Nicola Heap said: “If anyone has any information about what happened or noticed anyone acting suspiciously around the area over the weekend then I would ask them to come forward and get in touch.

“I would like to take the opportunity to remind people, not only at Christmas time but year round to be security conscious and to make sure that doors and windows are not left unlocked for opportunist thieves to take advantage.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
