POLICE are appealing for information after high value Asian gold jewellery was stolen from a house in Burnley.

The burglary took place on Tuesday between 7-50 and 8-30pm at a mid-terraced house in Clive Street when someone gained access by forcing a rear kitchen door.

PC Ryan Waddington said: “This burglary has taken place in a predominantly Bengali population and I would urge anybody within the community who saw or heard anything suspicious on Tuesday night to contact police.

“Sadly there have been similar offences committed in the area which is obviously of some concern to the local community and I would urge people to be vigilant and to report anybody they suspect to be involved to the police.”

The jewellery included earrings containing black stones, bangles, a locket, children’s rings and a necklace with the name ‘Alisha’ written on it.

Anyone with any information about this incident should contact police on 101 or ring Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
