Padiham people are set to turn out in force for the annual Christmas lights switch on this Friday.
Organised and funded by the town council the night has become one of the highlights in the town’s calendar with hundreds of families turning out in force to enjoy the entertainment.
The festive fun kicks off at 5-30pm when visitors can start their Christmas shopping at a craft market in a covered marquee behind the town hall.
There will also be a funfair on the car park.
As the excitement builds children from the choir at St John’s RC Primary School in the town will sing a selection of Christmas songs and hymns at 6pm.
The blessing of the crib ceremony takes place at 6-25pm and the crowds will be officially welcomed to the event by the Mayor of Padiham Coun. James Kirk at 6-30pm.
Then the countdown begins to the big switch on by the Mayor and spectacular firework display.
In keeping with tradition Father Christmas will be arriving on his sleigh and opening his grotto inside the town hall at 7-15pm so that all the children can drop off their wish lists.
