There was a night of music, comedy and charity as the New Rope String Band put on a show at Padiham Unitarian Church.

The night was a sell-out as this unusual and entertaining group, whose act includes acoustic music mixed with slapstick comedy, gave a spellbinding performance to a packed hall.

Before the concert, Barry Brown presented a member of the North West Air Ambulance, Freda Whittle, a cheque for £750 from part of the proceeds of the previous year’s concerts. At the same time, Rachel Brown also presented a cheque for £150 from the sale of hand-made cards.

The next concert in the new season is on 8th November and will be given by the much acclaimed Oldham Tinkers. Admission is £8 including refreshments. Further details on 01282 773336 or barryrbrown@gmail.com
