CLIVIGER: Time for Friendly Society’s annual meeting

MAGIC SHOW – From 7-30 p.m. on Friday Ian Keable will entertain at an evening of comedy and magic in the village hall. Tickets are limited but available from Marie on 422709 or Jean on 423743.

FRIENDLY HOUR – The AGM began with a bring-and-buy stall, which raised more than £60 for the group’s funds. Chairman Mrs A. Harris gave a resume of the past year and recalled some of the talks and outings members had enjoyed. Mrs D. Casford gave the treasurer’s report and officers were elected for the year: Mrs M. Wale as president, Mrs Harris as chairman, Mrs Casford as treasurer, Miss Nutter in charge of refreshments and village hall representative with Mrs B. Riley as assistant. Future plans for summer outings such as visits to Southport, Lytham, Fleetwood and Watershed Mill were discussed.

WHIST – Prize-winners at the whist drive in the village hall were: Mrs M. Duckworth, Mrs J. Metcalfe, Mrs J. Crabtree, Mrs G. Smith, Mrs O. Western, Mrs J. Haycock. At the domino drive, the winners were: Mrs J. Cottam, Mr D. Wrathall, Mrs E. Nicholson, who also won the raffle, Mrs M. Johnston. The next whist drive will be held on Thursday.
