WHIST DRIVE – The prize winners at the whist drive held in the village hall were: Mrs W. Newham, Mrs M. Duckworth, Mrs J. Crabtree, Mrs G. Smith, Mrs O. Western and Mrs P. Longrigg. At the domino drive, the winners were: Mrs E. Nicholson, Mrs J. Cottam, Mr D. Wrathall and Mrs B. Crook. The raffle was won by Mrs P. Longrigg. The whist and domino drive will be held on Thursday.
COMPUTER CLASS – At today’s computer class in the village hall there will be a demonstration of how to produce a poster. The class will close for the following two Fridays and will re-open on May 6th.
FRIENDLY HOUR – On Tuesday afternoon social historian Peter Watson gave a talk entitled “Where Does Time Go?” at the village hall. At next Tuesday’s meeting, the guest speaker will be John Bentley.
MONDAY CLUB – Social historian Peter Watson gave an amusing talk entitled “Medicine and Magic” at the meeting on Monday evening in the village hall. The next meeting is on May 9th and the guest speaker will be Roger Frost.
PARISH COUNCIL – Cliviger Parish Council will meet tonight at 7 p.m. in the Village Hall.
ST JOHN’S CHURCH – On Palm Sunday, Parish Eucharist is at 9-30 a.m. in Church House. On Maundy Thursday, the Eucharist of the Last Supper to include stripping the Sanctuary followed by the Watch starts at 7 p.m. The Parochial Church Council’s AGM will be held in Church House at 7-30 p.m. Everyone is invited to look at a display of work need and plans as well as ideas on how to bring St John’s into the 21st Century.
