VILLAGE HALL – An evening of comedy and magic with Jan Keable in the village hall was attended by 50 people.
WHIST – Winners at the whist drive in the village hall were: J. Ramsden, J. Metcalfe, W. Newman, G. M. Walsh, G. Smith, P. Longrigg. The domino drive winners were: J. Haycock, E. Nicholson, B. Crook, D. Wrathall. The raffle was won by J. Metcalfe. The next whist and domino drive will be held on Thursday.
FRIENDLY HOUR – Members had an interesting afternoon on Tuesday when the speakers were Glenys and Chloe from the CEDA centre, based at St Peter’s Health centre. They displayed some of the aids available to assist people with mobility problems and talked to members about the service. At the meeting on Tuesday, M. Crowther will give an illustrated talk.
MONDAY CLUB – Butcher George Heys was guest speaker at Monday’s meeting. He demostrated how to prepare a chicken breat and how to fillet a shoulder of lamb as well as using stuffing to create different flavours. A team was chosen to represent the Monday Club in the Brains of Cliviger quiz. The next meeting will be on April 11th when Peter Watson will talk about medicine and magic.
QUIZ – The annual Brains of Cliviger quiz will be held next Friday from 7-15 p.m. in the village hall. Teams of up to three, one member of which must live or work in Cliviger, will compete for the trophy. Further information is available from Marie on 422709.
