GIFTS galore have been donated to the annual Burnley Express and Salvation Army Toy Appeal.
And with just one more week to go before the toy appeal closes we are appealing to the generous folk of Burnley and Padiham to give a gift this year and help to light up a child’s face on Christmas morning.
And Maj. Lorraine O’Neill, of the Burnley Salvation Army, has appealed for more toys that would be suitable for babies.
She said: “This year we have received more gifts for boys than girls and we would like more baby items if possible and also gifts for teenage boys.”
The toys are already being wrapped and labelled for the many families that have been referred to the Salvation Army through various agencies in the town. Maj. O’Neill said that she was contacted by several agencies last week after making a special appeal in the paper.
There is still time to donate a gift, suitable for children up to the age of 16. Drop off points for the toys are the Burnley Express office in Bull Street, the town’s Asda store and Costa Coffee at Tesco. The Accrington Matalan store are also backing our campaign and customers have already donated a sackful of goodies. We also require selection boxes and large black bags. The Toy Appeal closes on Friday.
