BEAUTIFUL girls battled it out to win the crown of Miss Burnley and raise money for charity in the process.
Charlotte Pilling (20) a sales advisor at Burnley’s River Island store wowed the judges to win the title but there were plenty of other prizes from the night.
A lively audience watched the Miss Burnley Final in aid of the Variety Club Children’s Charity at the Thwaites Empire Theatre, Ewood.
Charlotte, from Bacup, said: “I was really shocked to win. I entered the competition last year but couldn’t make it because I was stranded on holiday in the Dominican Republic by the ash cloud.
“This is definitely second time lucky then. All the girls were really nice and I am now looking forward to the semi-final. It’s all a bit surreal.”
Other winners on the night were hairdresser Danielle Mills (22) who won Miss Popularity Burnley (public vote) and also came third overall. The runner-up was Burnley student Naomi Graham (22).
Saima Kousar (21) from Burnley raised more than £600 to be named Miss Charity Burnley.
Charlotte and her boyfriend will celebrate by driving to Le Mans for the motor racing and will arrive back on British soil in the early hours of June 13th, the day of the Miss England Semi Final. They will then drive to Leicestershire as Charlotte bids to secure a place in the Miss England Final in July.
