Calico Homes has announced plans for a new, affordable housing development in Pomfret Street and Blannel Street in Burnley.

The development would consist of 22 affordable rental homes, including: three bedroom, five person houses; two bedroom, four person houses andtwo bedroom, five person bungalows.

Work on site, which would be carried out by Ring Stones Maintenance and Construction, would take approximately twelve months and, pending planning approval, should commence in October.

Calico is due to hold a consultation event on Wednesday August 6th, 3 until 6pm, at Howard Street Community Centre.

The event will provide residents with an opportunity to discuss the proposals in more detail with Calico staff, and to provide feedback on the plans.

Calico’s Skills and Enterprise team will also be available to speak with any local residents who may be interested in considering apprenticeship opportunities.

Helen Thompson, Calico’s director of customer services, said: “Calico is committed to delivering homes that people can afford, and helping to tackle the national housing crisis.

“This new development, which has been backed by the Homes and Communities Agency, will deliver much needed homes for local people from the area, as well as a number of apprenticeship opportunities.

“It’s crucial that local residents are involved throughout the development process, and we look forward to working with them to ensure they have their say on any decisions that will have an impact on them.”
