A Burnley postmaster is urging people to get behind his latest charity fund-raiser before the post office closes.

Steve Harvey, of Rosehill Post Office in Manchester Road, has reached the £5,000 mark in his campaign to “Raise a Million Pennies” for Pendleside Hospice.

He has been encouraging people to clear out their pockets, purses and homes of loose change and donate it to the charity.

The aim was to hit a target of a million pennies which will mean another £10,000 for Pendleside.

The post office is due to close in the New Year but Steve wants to raise as much as possible before then. Donations can be made at the post office or hospice.
