THERE was a New Year jobs boost for Pendle this week as Nelson-based Daisy Group announced it is to bring 90 positions to the area as part of business integration plans for 2011.

The Lomeshaye-based firm has announced that colleagues from SpiriTel, the Wigan business it acquired in November, will move to Nelson and create one central location for core customer contact and the business’s support teams.

Daisy Group is an independent provider of unified business communications to small and medium enterprises and mid-market businesses.

Through a series of acquisitions, including last year’s purchase of SpiriTel, it has built an extensive product portfolio, meaning it is one of the few providers that can offer a unified suite of communications services across data, voice, mobile, telephone systems and maintenance, providing a complete end-to-end solution for all business communications.

The enlarged team at Nelson, incorporating SpiriTel employees, will further bolster the Daisy product offering, creating a centre of excellence for telephone systems.

Chief operating officer Gareth Kirkwood said: “The initial acquisition brought us a business that complemented the wider Daisy Group and we have the opportunity to centralise many of the common functions and departments at our Nelson site.

“Following last year’s acquisition, we carried out a full review of operations and were determined to tap into the expertise offered by the team, including a sales and customer support team and a highly skilled team of field technicians and engineers.

“By operating from a central location we will have greater scalability, which in turn will provide a greater level of customer service, accommodating further growth that is linked to our future development plans.”
