THE building of Padiham’s new Tesco superstore has moved a step closer after more plans were submitted to Burnley Borough Council.

The controversial development, which was opposed by some shopkeepers and residents in Padiham, was initially refused by the council but was given the green light following a four-day public inquiry last year after an appeal by the supermarket giant.

The new proposals, for the 30,000 sq.ft. Wyre Street and Lune Street site, relate to details of the scheme, including discharge of conditions for water drainage, flood mitigation measures, landscaping, material samples, site access, external lighting, roof plant details and construction management plan.
