A popular Burnley pub is celebrating the start of the new era with a big charity night next weekend.
Clarets boss Sean Dyche will be the special guest at the Thornton Arms in Brownside Road on Saturday, August 1st.
My family have been involved with pubs for years so it’s in the blood. We’ve always seen the potential of the Thornton and we can’t waitLicensee Jaimie Hopwood,
The pub has been under new management for a few months and licensee Jaimie Hopwood, who is running the pub with her husband, Gavin and sister Lauren, wants to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who has helped them out.
“We just wanted to a put on a night to show people everything that has been done. The upstairs has been fully refurbished, all the signs and lights have been replaced, we’ve done the downstairs, the toilets and we’ve put on a new menu featuring proper home-cooked pub grub.
“We didn’t want to just do a bit here and a bit there. We wanted it all done but we haven’t been closed either. So, it’s been a lot of hard work but a lot of the regulars have helped us out and we’re there now.”
Jaimie has worked at the Thornton Arms for eight years and could not resist the thought of running the pub.
“My family have been involved with pubs for years so it’s in the blood. We’ve always seen the potential of the Thornton and we can’t wait.”
On Saturday, August 1st, there will be a DJ, wine tasting, barbecue, tasters from the new menu and a huge raffle.
Money raised from the night will go towards Pendleside Hospice and the Riding for the Disabled Association.
