Upset staff at a Burnley SPAR shop which closed suddenly have said they feel betrayed at its closure.
The Burnley Express reported that the SPAR in Todmorden Road closed on tuesday without warning, as staff found a locked door and notice of forfeiture on their arrival to wor.
The store, which is franchsised, employed 16 full and part-time staff who are now in the dark as to their future.
One worker said: “We feel betrayed because no-one is telling us anything. We are very upset and worried about the future.
“Each of us received a text message thanking us for our loyalty and telling us not to worry, but we just don’t know what’s going on.”
A spokesman for the SPAR said: “At present, the SPAR store is shut but with the hopes of reopening as soon as possible in order to continue serving the community. We thank customers for their patience in the meantime.”
