Burnley’s economy has been given a massive boost with the news that a vehicle security company is relocating to the area from Cheshire – and the promise of many new jobs.
Cobra UK, the stolen vehicle tracking specialist and subsidiary of the Italy-based Cobra Group, will create a “significant number of jobs” when it moves into offices at Network 65 Business Park.
Having decided to co-locate its business functions, with another site at Blackburn, Cobra selected the “business friendly” M65 corridor around Burnley to run its UK operations.
Cobra is relocating those staff who wish to move from its head office in Sale to an alarm receiving centre formerly operated by fire protection specialist Chubb.
The group bought the premises in December and also took a five-year lease on a warehouse facility at Shadsworth Park in Blackburn.
Sue Packer, finance director for Cobra UK, said: “It has been a pleasure to work with real estate adviser Andy Backhouse who provided professional and pragmatic help throughout the acquisition of both properties and Cobra is now looking forward to relocating its entire business to the M65 corridor in the near future.”
The Group provides security, safety and telematics products for the automotive and insurance industries with operations in the UK, Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain, Japan and China.
