A successful online Burnley business has been chosen to help celebrate the 15th birthday of shopping giant eBay.

Thingimijigs.com, founded a decade ago by Rachael and Colin White, was chosen to celebrate companies that have started and grown on eBay.

Rachael said: “Our business started in 2004 with £200, a computer and a kitchen table. We now have a turnover of £1.3m. and are in the process of moving into a new 10,000sqft. building in Liverpool Road.

“We have more than 2,500 different items that we sell, and trade to all four corners of the globe.”

Proud members of the Burnley Bondholder scheme, the company helped to celebrate Burnley being named Most Enterprising Area in the UK last year, and Rachael is justifiably proud of the role her businesses contributed in the town gaining the accolade.

National television and press coverage has followed including a live interview for BBC Breakfast News.

Rachael added: “It has seemed like a whirlwind week. Not bad for a small company from Burnley.

“We are glad that eBay chose a northern company to celebrate the success of its site. We are now preparing for our busy period of Christmas.

“The move to the new warehouse will also allow us to expand further and take on more staff. The company, which currently employs eight permanent staff, is hiring more temporary workers for Christmas, and also runs an apprenticeship scheme.
