A Burnley hotel has been crowned one of the best employers in the hospitality business.
The Holiday Inn Express, in Pendle Way, which is run by Starboard Hotels, won Best Small Group Hotel Employer in Hospitality and was voted fourth in the Top 50 Best Employers in Hospitality 2013 at the Best Employers in Hospitality Awards 2013 hosted by Caterer.com.
The awards recognise the best hospitality employers in England and Wales and are judged by the people that know them best – their employees. The results are gathered using employee engagement questionnaires, which are completed by employees at each of the businesses that enter the awards.
Mr Kerian Barnes, Starboard Hotels’ regional general manager, said: “These awards are extremely special as the entries aren’t judged by a panel but by our employees and, therefore, are a true representative of how they feel.
“Employee satisfaction is extremely important to us at Holiday Inn Express Burnley and these awards show us that our hard work to achieve an enjoyable work environment is appreciated by our employees.”
Mr Paul Callingham, managing director of Starboard Hotels, added: “The Holiday Inn Express Burnley has won awards in the past for being a great hotel, so it is fantastic that the team that runs it are also getting the recognition they deserve.”
Opened in 2008, Holiday Inn Express Burnley is located just off the M65 junction 10.
The hotel offers recently refurbished accommodation and is ideal for both business and leisure travellers visiting the East Lancashire region.
The hotel employs a team of 20, led by Mr Barnes and senior guest service manager Mr Tim O’Brien.
