Business Secretary Vince Cable hailed the rise of a Burnley manufacturing firm as a “European success story.”
The leading Government minister praised the growth of VEKA in Farrington Road as he opened the firm’s new £5m mixing plant.
He was given a tour of the state-of-the-art extension by UK managing director and company chiefs who flew in specially from Germany.
It is the second time Dr Cable has visited VEKA which has taken on 70 new staff in recent months.
The VEKA UK Group Managing Director Dave Jones explains: “It was a pleasure to welcome the Business Secretary back to the site to see the finished plant following his visit to Burnley last year.
“We really feel that our investment in this facility represents another success story for Burnley and the UK manufacturing industry overall.
“The new mixing plant will allow The VEKA UK Group to become even bigger and stronger over the coming years.”
Burnley Council’s Julie Cooper and Steve Rumbelow attended the event along with Michael Damms Chief Executive of the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce.
