Happy Christmas everyone!

This year’s annual Burnley Express and Salvation Army Toy Appeal has been the most successful ever thanks to YOU, our kind hearted readers. You donated a staggering 2,160 toys and gifts that will be opened by 720 children across Burnley and Padiham on Christmas morning.

The Salvation Army’s Lt Maisie Veacock sent out a special message of thanks, saying: “ I came to work in Burnley for the first time this year and I knew right away what a special place it was and the people who live here have proved that.

“I could never have dreamed that the appeal would be so successful but the people of Burnley have taken it to their hearts and it has become very important to them. I want to thank everyone who gave something to the appeal, you have made a difference to so many children who may not have had anything to open on Christmas morning.’’

Toys, gifts and books were still pouring into our offices in Bull Street even after the appeal closed on Friday, December 13th.

Shoppers in Burnley’s Asda and Costa Coffee in Tesco also donated gifts along with customers at Tesco in Padiham.
