A young jobseeker from Burnley joined others from across the region in a visit to aerospace firm BAE Systems.
Ben Hargreaves (22) was among 12 young people who spent time in the manufacturing facility at its site in Samlesbury as part of the Movement to Work programme, run in partnership with the Prince’s Trust to provide work experience, develop their employability skills and increase the opportunities to get back into the workplace.
Ben, who has been looking for work since completing a politics degree last year, said the skills picked up during his time with the business would be of use when he is applying for jobs.
During their stay, they worked on a range of projects including on the world’s biggest fighter jet programme, F-35, to gain vital skills which they hope will benefit them in their hunt for work.
Ben said: “I have learned so much about things like lean manufacturing techniques and many other things which I would not have picked up elsewhere.
“I am looking at the graduate scheme at BAE Systems now as an opportunity.”
A further group of job-seekers are due to start at the Warton site at the end of November.
