A MODEL and promotions girl from Hapton is delighted after being chosen to appear at the country’s best-known racing circuit.
Pretty Sophie Massey (18), of Manchester Road, was a grid girl for the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship at Brands Hatch after being selected by Hebden Bridge-based CN Racing to front its campaign.
A former pupil of Hameldon Community College, Burnley, Sophie is no stranger to the camera after being photographed in fashion and lingerie shoots.
She now hopes to be a regular face on the racing circuit, accompanying bikers to the grid and handing out promotional material.
Sophie was one of three girls chosen for the event over Easter. One of the three will get the chance to appear in a calendar while a second will be a grid girl at Oulton Park, Cheshire, later this year.
One girl from 12 races will then be crowned Miss CN Racing 2012.
Despite the damp weather, she said she enjoyed the experience and is keeping everything crossed for the chance to do it again.
“We were mainly working in the hospitality tent but then we were led up to where the pit was and taken onto the grid with the racers. It was a good day and the team were really nice.
“I’ll keep my fingers and toes crossed I get chosen for the calendar.
“I do promotion work and some modelling for fashion and lingerie. I love all my modelling and I love being a grid girl now I’ve tried it.”
Sophie, who is also studying beauty at Accrington and Rossendale College and lives with her mum and stepdad Mr and Mrs Martin and Sharon Troth, has had lots of support from her family and boyfriend George Stirzaker, who travelled to Brands Hatch with her.
“They’ve been really supportive. They are proud of me. It’s quite a big thing to achieve. My dad James Massey owns his own garage and said it was a shame it wasn’t car racing!”
When she is not busy working or at college Sophie enjoys spending time with her horses, Tilly and Joey.
