DEPITE living in the land of the Cornish pasty a Burnley old boy still yearns for a taste of home – a Haffner’s pie.

Daniel Almond (34) now lives in Newquay with girlfriend Emma Smithson, but makes sure that whenever he returns home he also returns back to Cornwall with a box of pies from the Burnley butcher.

Daniel, who used to work for Marks and Spencer in Burnley, said: “When I was growing up I always used to go in Haffner’s with my family for a pie.

“They had a factory in Burnley Wood so we also used to get some from there fresh as well as from the shop in Keirby Walk.

“People tell me I’m mad because of how delicious Cornish pasties are. I agree they are nice but nothing tastes as good as a Haffner’s pie. I’m trying to get some of my Cornish friends hooked now.”

Daniel is even planning to set up a Facebook group in dedication of his premier pastry.
