A BURNLEY man who is suffering from a rare form of terminal cancer looks set to marry the mother of his children with a dream £20,000 wedding after members of the community volunteered their help.
The Express revealed how Tom Cooper (24), of Greenbrook Road, was diagnosed with nasopharngeal carcinoma last October.
Doctors have told the dad-of-two there is no cure and, because the illness is so rare, they are unsure when his health will deteriorate further.
Now friends of Tom and his fiancee Tammy Dale (23), who are struggling financially, have launched an appeal to organise the wedding for them.
The couple, who are parents to Tienna (4) and 19-month-old Ziani, have since been inundated with offers of help for Tammy’s wedding dress, hairdressers, vintage cars, horse and carriage, LED dancefloor, food, entertainment and other items for the ceremony, which will take place at Towneley Hall on April 4th, followed by a reception at the Oaks Hotel in Reedley.
MP Gordon Birtwistle has also asked MPs in Parliament to donate to the cause.
Wesley Hall, who is helping to co-ordinate the wedding, said he was also in talks with an ice sculptor.
“The response has been excellent. It’s overwhelming to be honest. A lot of people are chipping in and we are really grateful for everybody’s input. Once we have chosen the suppliers I’m going to add it all up, but I reckon it would have cost more than £20,000.
“We couldn’t plan it without people’s generosity. It will be the wedding of their dreams.”
