Calico residents celebrated the end of major improvement work in Cromer Grove with a special community Fun Day.

The event was organised by Calico’s Neighbourhood Action Team for Burnley North and Ring Stones, who carried out the work, donated £500 towards the event, as did Burnley Borough Council.

Frances Hedge, from the Neighbourhood Action Team, said: “The Fun Day went well – there was so much to do and all the children had a lot of fun and were well-mannered and well-behaved. Everyone had a fantastic time.”

Residents took part in a range of activities, including face painting from Tiger Tiger, ‘pet a pony’ from Happa, a bouncy castle provided by the Central Briercliffe Road Action Group, and a raffle and tombola, with prizes donated by Burnley Football Club, Jewsons, Oh So Sweet Candy Trees and Calico employees. Music was provided by the Burnley Alliance Silver Band, pop duo the Swamp Donkeys and the local choir.

Residents were also able to get advice and support from services across the Calico Group as well as the council and the police.

Calico’s Neighbourhood Action Teams are committed to working with residents to help maintain sustainable communities, encouraging tenants to keep their
gardens and property in good condition.
