Burnley Borough Council’s Leisure Development manager Paul Foster has been made chairman for the North West region of the Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity.

IMPSA is the UK’s professional body for the development of sport, sports facilities and professionals working in the leisure industry, to develop a vibrant sport and physical activity sector across the country.

The organisation provides courses and qualifications to those in this industry to encourage professional development in the field.

Mr Foster said: “It was a great honour to be given this new title, and was a great day for me in my career in leisure services.

“I hope to use the role to develop both myself and our team at Burnley so that we can continue to provide excellent leisure and recreation facilities and opportunities for all.”
