The Holiday Inn Express in Burnley is one of only five hotels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa to be handed a Torchbearer award, recognising high achievements in customer satisfaction.
The award, handed out by the Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) – which includes Intercontinental, Hotel Indigo, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express – is given to the top five properties in the EMEA region based on the results of customer feedback forms.
In order to qualify, the hotel had to consistently pass strict audit regimes that are implemented across all IHG hotels. Winners were chosen based on the feedback left by visitors.
The hotel, operated by Starboard Hotels, was handed the accolade for the second year in a row.
General manager Kim Eivind Krohn said: “This is a fantastic achievement for us because it is about our hotel and our team being given recognition by our guests. The local area has much to offer business and leisure travellers and we strive to meet their needs in every way we can.”
Widely used by both business and leisure travellers visiting the East Lancashire region, the hotel opened in 2008 and is currently undergoing a refurbishment of all the bedrooms and a new menu.
