A Burnley company which makes packaging machinery is helping people across the world celebrate Christmas this year after soaring global demand for its products.

CPack Packaging Machinery, in Athletic Street, has received orders for its gift wrapping machines to parcel a host of festive treats, including Christmas puddings in New Zealand, luxury chocolates in Belgium, and cosmetics in Canada.

The firm has also been customising gift wrapping for top British names including Harrods, Fortnum and Mason and Marks and Spencer.

Bosses said the latest customer to place an order for a CPack Gift Wrap 3000 machine, which featured on Channel 4’s Gadget Show last Christmas, was a luxury Belgium chocolatier. The equipment will enable them to gift wrap 50 boxes of chocolates per minute.

Mr Charles Reilly, managing director at CPack, said: “We’ve been at the forefront of design and manufacturing of computer controlled packaging systems for many years, working with clients from initial concept to delivery with support and after sales servicing from our Burnley site.

“We are a global business, with machines in operation from Vladivostok, Russia, to Vancouver, Canada. For our clientele CPack puts the C in Christmas, and a satellite Santa workshop in Burnley.

“People probably aren’t aware that most of the Christmas puddings sold across the world are wrapped using CPack’s bespoke pleat wrapping machine, and that we are a growing global Burnley business, recognised for our advancements in technology. “We work for several high end clients packaging puddings, mince pies, chocolates, soaps, cosmetics, food, pharmaceuticals, with some big names in the automotive industry.”

Mr Reilly said he has just returned from the Government’s Innovate technology exhibition where he showcased the company’s machinery.

“Our latest pleat wrapping machine has just been delivered to Auckland, New Zealand, for specialist Christmas pudding wrapping down under. Santa needs a little help at this time of year and a little help with wrapping is always welcome. The CPack team are happy to oblige,” he said.
