A Burnley veterinary clinic has become just the second vet in East Lancashire to receive the prestigious Small Animal Veterinary Hospital Accreditation.
After their latest Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons’ Practice Standards Inspection, Oakmount Veterinary Centre on Trafalgar Street said they were “extremely proud” of the stellar achievement.
“As an accredited RCVS Hospital, our standards meet the highest level, day and night,” said Practice Manager, Sonia Billington.
“Our staff care for their patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days of the year, with a team member on site at all times,” she added.
The voluntary RCVS Practice Standards scheme aims to promote and maintain the highest levels of veterinary care, with only 57% of the UK’s practices receiving the distinguished accreditation.
To meet the exacting standards, practices must volunteer to under go a rigorous assessment process every four years, with random spot-checks in between.
Everything from the anaesthesia, the client experience , dentistry, infection control, out-of-hours provision, surgery, the facilities, and the overall service provided are assessed, with Oakmount passing with flying colours.
