Burnley landlord Brian Parker has now completed an incredible 104 miles in four days as he looks to complete 12 marathons, in 12 days, across 12 counties for Pendleside Hospice.
His gruelling journey has so far taken him through Cheshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire and yesterday Hertfordshire, where he recorded his quickest time yet of 5 hours and 58 minutes.
Today sees him tackling the roads of Worcestershire and although his pace has quickened he said it definitely wasn’t getting any easier.
“I suppose my body may be getting used to it but it’s definietly not getting any easier. It’s been really hard work and there’s been plenty of times when I’ve thought ‘enough is enough’. It’s a mental thing as well though because you’re always thinking that there’s that next one to do the day after. I don’t think I’ll feel any relief until I’m well into the last one.
“My legs are really stiff. I have a hot bath and a massage after every run and that seems to help but the next day they are just really stiff again. It’s for a good cause though and hopefully people are going to sponsor me.”
