Burnley man’s mobile phone stolen by robbery gang

A YOUNG man was subjected to a “frightening experience” when he was confronted by three men demanding his mobile phone.

The 19-year-old was walking along Eastern Avenue, Burnley, on Saturday at 8-15 p.m. when three Asian youths blocked his path.

One of the youths demanded his mobile phone and when it was handed over they ran off towards Widow Hill Road.

The youth, who made the demands was aged around 17 or 18, 5ft. 6in. tall, with gelled spiky hair. He was wearing a black top with distinctive diagonal red stripes and separate black patches on the sleeves.

The second offender was wearing a black fleece, was aged 17 or 18 and was 5ft. 7in. tall. The third youth was 16 or 17, of thin build, wearing a black hooded top.

DC Ian McLean, of Burnley CID, said: “Luckily the victim suffered no injuries but this was still a frightening experience. Anyone with information should call 472240 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
