A BURNLEY man has died in Thailand while visiting his wife.

According to Thai media reports Mr Christopher Wood (56) had been staying in an apartment block in the coastal city of Pattaya with his 40-year-old wife Mrs Wasana Gumgaew.

He died on January 30th after suffering a seizure.

On the night of his death Mr Wood had been invited to a wedding but said that he was exhausted from an earlier trip to Laos, where he had been to renew his passport.

When Mrs Wasana came back from the wedding her husband was lying on the bed.

He got up to go to the bathroom but started feeling faint and fell.

He got his feet and said his leg was numb and that his head was aching.

He went into the bathroom where he lost consciousness. His wife immediately called medics but Mr Wood had stopped breathing. He died before an ambulance arrived to take him to hospital.

Police who examined the body said they were not treating Mr Wood’s death as suspicious. It is believed he spent three months each year in Thailand visiting his wife.

The British Embassy has been informed and arrangements were being made to bring his body back to the UK.
